Really George... Please.

(A review of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope)I've never really liked Star Wars... The Luke ones were horrendous! The only reason I would even consider re-watching them is Harrison Ford as Han Solo. He is the best character in the whole Star Wars mess! Now George Lucas's original ideas were great! A Fantasy world with super-like powers, dark and light sides and all that other stuff. But I think he got a little carried away after awhile. When choosing actors and actresses he must have had his eyes closed and his ears plugged. And maybe his brain stopped. I mean, come on, Georgy-man, Mark Hamill? Any chance for coolness just flew out the window... You could have at least gotten a good-looking guy. Scored an F minus on Princess Leia. Darth Vader... Well, he was a robot. And I realize that he is mostly machine, but please! Some emotion or something! He was soooo boring and his quotes are terrible! A++++++ for Han Solo, though he should have never have fallen for ugly, man-voiced, pushy Leia. The series does deserve some stars for Yoda too, I guess. He was pretty funny, especially about the flashlight thing, or whatever it was. Anyway, the new ones aren't much better. Only reason I rated them higher is the special effects and more action (and I'm not talking about kissing action.) Pretty much, Luke was an idiot, Leia an annoying female who got in everyone's way and Han the only cool guy in the whole thing! 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Bitterly Disappointing...

(A review of The Spiderwick Chronicles)*WARNING* ~Contains Spoilers~ Definitely not a film I wish to see again. Freddie Highmore has never been a favorite of mine, far from it in fact, and having two of him was just a little much. Although I have never read the books (or even wish to now) the plot was very plain and disappointing. The graphics were fine, but the cliche humor practically reeked. But what really got to me was the stupid decisions that were made by the characters. 1) When the Idiotic main boy (Can't even remember his name) decides to take the "Book" and go outside the safe boundaries to show it to the elderly daughter of the author. Why did he do that? It was safe inside! He could have explained their dilemma to the daughter. 2)When the Troll chases them down the tunnel. Ahem... The Troll is a HUGE Monster and it's chasing these little kids! And it doesn't catch them... I'm not rooting for the bad guys, I just wish they'd make things a little more, shall we say, realistic. 3) Also, it was rather unrealistic how well the kids handled the situation. I don't know about you, but the last time I checked, normal kids didn't run around killing monsters, hiding from enormous (not to mention, hideous) beasts, flying on griffins or stabbing their own fathers. Normal kids would have been screaming their freaking heads off! And probably would have died, which would have made for a much better movie. Though maybe not a childrens movie. Overall, it got an "okay" rating only because it was slightly scary and I like a small element of fear in a film. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
"Pride and Prejudice" review

(A review of "Pride and Prejudice")I don't see what everyones getting on about. This mini-series was okay, but nothing more. Sure, it followed the book remarkably well, I'll give you that, but it's nothing to get excited over. The direction and costumes were fine, but all the actors were ugly with the exception of Colin Firth, who was 'okay' as Mr. Darcy, but nothing more. Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy Bennet was surprisingly good and played her role excellently. Everyone else in their reviews were getting all worked up about Firth in his damp white shirt, not much, I must say though, since he's not much to look at. All in all it was an okay movie, as I said before. With a little more work it might have been a great mini-series. 1 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of The Gold Shoe (Tyndale House Publs) (Grace Livingston Hill))A really sappy romance novel. I can't believe I wasted my time reading this book. Grace Livingston Hill has done some fairly good books in her lifetime, but this is by far her worst. Cheesy, romance scenes, a terrible story line, and Hill's bratty, prissy and extremely irritating main character, all helped me to come to a deeper understanding of a very bad book. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
More than just "Cool"

(A review of The City of Towers (Eberron: The Dreaming Dark, Book 1))This book hits the top of the charts for me. It is beyond most fantasy books I've read. Amazingly, it sat on my shelf for weeks before I actually picked it up and started reading it. After I'd begun it though, I couldn't stop reading! I poured over every chapter, delved into every scene, lived every moment and died when the book ended. Grrrr! Too abrupt of an ending! And I had to wait FOREVER for the Library to get the second book 'Shattered Land'. Minus the cliff-hanger ending, this book was, as I said, the TOPS. Absolutely, stunningly Beautiful! Baker can write like nobody's business! Don't be deterred by parents, children, dogs or devils, read this book today! 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Utterly Beautiful

(A review of The Gates of Night (The Dreaming Dark, Book 3))As with the two previous books in this series, this one was a marvel! I ate up every word! Every gruesome detail, every minuscule happening, was finely crafted with the utmost brilliancy and precision. I couldn't pull myself out! The very first sentence enthralled me. My only true regret was the ending, though disappointing it was satisfactory enough. I don't want to stop you from reading this, by all means! Get the book TODAY!! It's a wonder on paper! 0 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of The Shattered Land (Eberron: The Dreaming Dark))Wow, Keith Baker sure can write! His plot is an absolute wonder! Every time he introduces a new character and right as I've just started to trust they're good they turn bad! The twists the story line takes are dramatic and irresistibly enticing. I could hardly pull myself out of 'The Shattered Land'. It's better than good, it's intriguing, awesomely gruesome and extremely graphic! It sucks you into the story and pulls you along with the characters, letting you feel and understand their pain, happiness and sorrow. I was stunned by the conclusion of the book and rather disappointed at how it ended. But luckily for me, I had the third book already in my possession so I was able to dive back into the magical world that Baker has so vividly brought to life for me. Please, if you haven't yet read this series, READ IT!! It's so truly awesome. 0 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of Business Up Front/Party In The Back)I absolutely LOVE this CD!! Every song has a touch of pure coolness to it. My personal favorite is 'Drama Queen'. I could listen to this CD over and over again (and I do!!) This band is ROCKING AWESOME!!!! 1 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge)I seriously dislike this game. The steering thing is messed up in the cars, it's all backwards. Pepper's quotes get really irritating after he repeats the same one for the billionth time. It's especially bad during the part where you have to dive for bricks in the 'stream' (which, in actuality, is a bottomless waterhole.) The thing I still can't get over is that they call this a "kid's game". What a laugh. I can just see some five year old trying to play this. I never even finished the game, that's how hard it was. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
